Double Up Food Bucks allows SNAP users to buy more fresh produce

Double Up Food Bucks is once again available in the area, allowing those using SNAP (food assistance) benefits to double their food dollars for fresh fruits and vegetables.

At grocery stores, shoppers can buy fresh produce using their SNAP EBT card. They’ll earn $1 for every $1 they spend. The Food Bucks they earn will show up on their loyalty card, store account or coupon (depending on the store) and they can spend their Food Bucks on a future shopping trip.

At farmers markets, shoppers buy SNAP tokens with their SNAP EBT card, and are given a matching amount of Double Up Food Bucks tokens to spend on fresh produce, immediately or on a future visit.

The program is available through Dec. 31, 2020, at participating farmers markets and grocery stores in the Kansas City area, plus at participating locations in Kansas and central Missouri. Find locations HERE.
