Please join us for the 2021 MARC Regional Assembly and Leadership Awards on June 11. At this event, we’ll look back on the challenges and triumphs of the past year and recognize our Regional Leadership Award recipients.
The program will include networking opportunities, a look back at 2020, two original works of art from local artists Julia Haile and Glenn North, a salute to public health and a celebration of the Regional Leadership Award recipients.
Each year, the Regional Leadership Awards honor people and organizations that advocate regional concepts, approaches and programs; address regional challenges; apply innovative solutions to regional problems; and advance a regional vision of excellence and opportunity.
The 2021 Regional Leadership Award recipients are:
- Steve Arbo, Lee’s Summit city manager, and Bill Ebel, Overland Park city manager, are respected local and regional leaders who have played a critical role in the region’s ongoing emergency preparedness work, including the COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery.
- Dr. Rodney Smith and Stephenie Smith, MSW, work to move organizations of all sizes and kinds forward in their understanding and opportunities in diversity, equity and inclusion. They believe changing one heart at a time can change the region and that equity is everyone’s responsibility.
- AltCap works to empower entrepreneurs throughout our communities to build a more inclusive, vibrant local economy. Their effective and creative efforts bring technical assistance and access to capital to small businesses and entrepreneurs traditionally left behind.
- Climate Action KC sparked a regional movement to take action on climate change. By gathering elected, corporate, nonprofit and neighborhood leaders focused on regional coordination, the effort aims to draw down greenhouse gases, improve climate resilience, invigorate the economy, promote public health and improve the collective quality of life.
