New Local Government Services Dept. director focused on partner engagement

MARC has a new Local Government Services Department.

Engaging and collaborating with government partners is the focus of a new department at MARC led by Lauren Palmer.

Lauren Palmer is leading MARC’s new Local Government Services Department.

Palmer has been with MARC since September 2018 and most recently served as program director of Local Government Services. Prior to joining MARC, she worked for 14 years in local government management for cities in Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. She is assuming a larger leadership role at MARC as part of an effort to organize local government services into a department that will bring focused leadership to serving MARC’s constituency.

The newly established Local Government Services Department houses MARC’s functions for public safety and 911 communications, emergency services, the Government Training Institute, shared services and a new housing initiative. Palmer will also oversee special programs such as the Managers Roundtable and First Suburbs Coalition.

“I am very excited to step into this role and broaden our engagement with government partners,” said Palmer. “The Local Government Services Department team is eager to collaborate with cities, counties and other partners in our region for the betterment of the communities and residents we serve.”
